About Kristen

I’m a food-loving dietitian working in Vancouver, BC. I believe that ENJOYING eating is healthy.

Healthy eating is a celebration. It nourishes our bodies, tastes great, connects us to our friends, families, history and culture, and the earth.

I’m not the food police! Feeling deprived does not fit in my definition of healthy.

I use an honest, practical, evidence-based, positive, no-diet approach.

I’m known for my intuitive understanding of role that food and eating has in our lives.

I help kids, including the ones with tricky tastebuds, to learn to enjoy healthy food and be able to experience the pleasure that it can bring.  And, I support Moms (and Dads, grandparents, and other caregivers) who are so worried about their kids’ health and nutrition that they are doing crazy things to get their kids to eat.

For example, is the 3 year old who only will eat when spoon-fed missing eating skills? Or, has she simply found a way to get the Mommy-time that she craves?

I was the dietitian behind  http://www.healthypregnancyBC.ca, Toddlers First Steps , and other BC resources. And now I am continuing with my passion by working with families to take the battles out of mealtimes so that meals are the quality family time that they dream of.

I get to the heart of the matter, help people understand their current habits, and come up with practical, do-able strageties to make enjoying healthy eating a day-to-day reality.

As a Registered Dietitian, I bring an expertise in the current science regarding nutritional needs. What is the difference between a dietitian/dietician and a nutritionist? Check out the article here.

Are you feeling shy about sharing what you eat with a dietitian? Check out my blog to see what I eat  – it’s perfectly imperfect!

Having successfully managed single organization, community-wide, and province-wide health promotion projects for healthy eating, physical activity, and mental/emotional health, I bring considerable project management skills.
