A Peek in My Cart – February 8 – 14
I’m burning the candle at both ends this week. For all the right reasons – lots of work and the Olympics! But it means no new recipes to share with you.
Monday – California salad and fresh squeezed apple juice
I’m out running errands tonight and I find myself down the bottom of Commercial at dinner-time. So I have one of my favourite meals: the california salad at Sweet Cherabim. It’s truely a meal-size salad with lettuce, cabbage, mixed veggies, nuts and seeds, cheese, avocado, raisins, and a whole lot more.
Tuesday – Chili, yogurt with cherries and papaya
I’m leading a workshop tonight so I have dinner in two halves. First, I heat up some chili that I had defrosted. Later I have some plain yogurt with papaya and defrosted cherries that I pitted and froze last summer.
Wednesday – Cereal, papaya, cookie
I’m doing another workshop this evening. Unfortunately I didn’t plan ahead so I pay the consequences – nothing for dinner. I make due with a bowl of cereal, some papaya and a giant chocolate chip cookie from a local coffee shop.
Thursday – Cliff bar, vegetarian pizza
I make a last-minute decision to head down to watch the torch relay instead of making dinner. So I grab a cliff bar to tie me over. Walking home after the concert I stop into Firewood Pizza on Cambie and get a small thin crust pizza with eggplant, spinach, and artichokes.
Friday - Teryaki salmon burger and a beer
I’m at the opening ceremonies. The concession doesn’t have many options so I choose the salmon burger. It isn’t good. But it doesn’t taint the fantastic evening!
Saturday – Instant Indian palak paneer, an orange, ice cream sandwich
We spend the afternoon and evening checking out the Olympic pavillions and eat a late makeshift meal once we return home at about 10pm.
Sunday – Vegetarian Pizza and and apple
I’m alone in Terrace for work and it’s Valentine’s Day. So I bring some take-out pizza to my room and watch the Olympics.
